Chiswick House built between 1726 and 1729 is one of the earliest and most important neo-Palladian villas in England. Designed by Richard Boyle, third Earl of Burlington, with advice from the painter, architect and garden designer William Kent. Chiswick House’s design was based on the classical architecture of Italy at that time, and the House is full of Burlington’s collection of paintings and architectural drawings. The gardens are seen as England’s first natural ones and form a lovely work of art with Chiswick House as its centrepiece. Chiswick Gardens influenced many other gardens including Blenheim Palace and New York’s Central Park.
